He has two younger brothers, Gabe and Billy, whom he loves but also can be strict with. One day, Frank runs into his old friend Jack Bannister on the street. Jack invites him to attend a special conference called Tomorrowland in an alternate universe beyond the limits of the universe in which they live in. The conference will take place on Saturday week in Tomorrowland's "Hollywood Square" made up of futuristic objects like robots and flying cars. At first skeptical of its existence, Frank accepts the invitation only after convincing his mother about it. He also gets Gabe to join him after convincing him that they will see Tomorrowland on Saturday. The walk to the conference site is like any other day for Frank, who is eventually joined by his brothers and Jack. Frank is interested in meeting some of his favorite future gadgets but quickly learns that Tomorrowland's futuristic items are far more advanced than anything on Earth, the latter which had emphasized practicality and engineering quirks instead of artistic design. At the conference, Frank meets some Tomorrowlanders including Buck Rogers (a former NASA astronaut), adventurer X-8 (an alternate universe version of Indiana Jones) and fellow 12-year-old Carlos Martinez (a boy from another universe). They are later introduced to their leader, the optimistic Walt Disney, who is actually a man in a mask to disguise his face as he has been deformed as a result of an accident. The children leave Tomorrowland for Sparkletown on Saturday and discover that everything had not gone as they had hoped. The only thing left was the Tomorrowland ticket they had received, which at first seemed useless before finding out that it will take them back into Tomorrowland on Monday and that their departure into the space-time continuum caused some problems.
